About The Lodge
The main lodge was completely rebuilt in 2023 from the ground up. It has a loft with a big screen TV, cozy sofas, games, weights and mats for work outs or yoga. The living room has a vaulted ceiling with comfortable sofas to gather and relax around the pellet stove. Our WiFi is excellent and clients are able to video call, FaceTime, stream their favorite shows or post photos of their catch of the day. The guest room in the main building has a queen bunk bed with an attached full bathroom. The bunk house has a queen bed, 3 single beds, and an attached full bathroom.
The main house has a beautiful, covered deck with a fire pit and cozy chairs overlooking the river. It’s a favorite spot to sit and enjoy nature, sip a cup of coffee, or relax and tell stories around the fire in the evening.
Meet Your Hosts
Greg and Janell Ginsburg
Greg and Janell are both retired dentists who worked together in their family practice in central Oregon for 32 years.
Greg grew up in Alaska and has always had a passion for fishing and adventure. His father had a wilderness rafting fishing guide business and when Greg wasn’t guiding for him he was fishing every chance he could get. He also had the opportunity to commercial fish on the ocean for several years which provided valuable fishing and boating experience. He is an experienced fly fisherman but loves all styles of fishing. He can introduce you to or set you up for mooching, trolling, jigging or fly fishing in the salt water to fly fishing, spin fishing, jig fishing or drift fishing the rivers and lakes on the island. They purchased the Namaslay property in 2008 and have many years of fishing intel in the area.
Janell grew up in Beaverton Oregon and loves to cook, run, hike, do yoga, Stand up paddle, and fish ( in Alaska where its actually catching not just fishing ). She always wears a smile and is a wonderful host for any non angler or part time angler who want to get out and adventure or for any guests who just love great healthy cooking.
We are a family owned and operated lodge where you will feel more like a guest in our home than staying in a fishing lodge.
We look forward to making new lifelong friends and sharing our special slice of paradise with you.
Quality Food & Drink
Whenever possible we will feature and enjoy the “fruits of our labor” and eat the freshest seafood every evening. This includes spot prawns, salmon, halibut, rockfish, oysters, and even ling cod. Dinners will vary from plated “fancy” presentations to casual bbq nights on the deck but almost always feature the catch of the day. Fish this fresh is a rare delicacy and has to be tasted to believe.
Lunches are usually made to go and a cooler packed for our day of adventure with sandwiches, snacks, etc.
Breakfasts are usually simple so we can get our adventure started wherever we are headed that day. We will always have coffee ready in the morning when you wake up.
We have a variety of wines and beers for you to enjoy. If you have a special wine or spirit you would like to have you can pack it or we have a liquor store on the Island we can stop by on the way from your pickup which has a decent selection.
Let us know before you arrive if you have any special dietary requests or needs so we can make sure we are prepared to take good care of you. The closest store is about a 4 hour round trip.

Andrea
Our time at Namaslay was nothing short of perfect. From the minute we arrived Greg and Janell made us feel welcomed into their slice of paradise. It didn’t take long for us to be immersed in Alaska beauty straight from the fire pit on their deck with eagles, gorgeous water, and even an occasional bear! Fishing was outstanding and plentiful. We caught halibut, salmon and rockfish with tons of wildlife viewing along the way. The area is diverse with multiple fishing opportunities and Greg goes above and beyond to help you check off your fishing bucket list. Janell is an incredible cook and the food is fresh delicious and local. The cabin was so comfortable that it was hard to leave the cozy bed if only to stumble out to the warm fireplace for fresh coffee we went home with fish to stock the freezer and lifetime memories… Hoping to go back every year!

My co-worker and I spent four days at Namaslay Alaskan Lodge in July, and it was unforgettable! From the moment we arrived, the breathtaking wilderness set the tone for an epic adventure. The highlight? Catching beautiful salmon and halibut and rockfish every day felt like a triumph. Our guide Greg was beyond incredible, blending expert knowledge with genuine enthusiasm ensuring every cast was a thrill. The lodge itself was cozy, the meals tasty, and the camaraderie unmatched. Reeling in such trophy fish in pristine Alaskan waters was a dream come true. We ended up with boxes of fish each to take home! This wasn’t just a fishing trip. It was a once in a lifetime experience. I can’t wait to go back!
