Wildlife

South east Alaska is teaming with wildlife both on Prince of Wales Island and the surrounding waters.  We almost always  see humpback whales and porpoises every day on the water.  Orcas are less common but we see them each season.  Sea otters, seals, sea lions, and many variety of birds are a common site while on the water.

We have a huge population of black bears on the island as well as Sitka black tailed dear, wolves, river otters and martin.

Bald eagles are typically all around the lodge and like to roost in the surrounding trees.  Since we are right on the river, we will see a variety of waterfowl visiting the estuary below.
