Fresh Water Fishing

We have so many different freshwater fishing options whether fly fishing or spin gear fishing. We have a skiff with outboard and an inflatable jet boat that are ideal for getting you up rivers and across lakes to more remote areas.  We also can drive to dozens of rivers on the island.  Our favorite way to access the best freshwater fishing is taking our 22 foot ocean pro aluminum boat to remote river mouths and jet boating or hiking up to pristine runs teaming with migrating salmon, rainbow trout, cutthroat trout and Dolly Varden that rarely see a fisherman. This is the best way to access the best steelhead water during our limited coveted steelhead fishing season in April and May.

Some of these rivers will literally wear your arms out catching salmon during July and August and September.  If you love catching salmon on a fly and an adventure in a beautiful setting this is for you.

In the fresh water we target 4 types of salmon: sockeye (reds), coho (silvers), chum (dogs) and pinks which are all great fighters. Fly fishing for trout swinging a fly can be exhilarating with great takes.  The trout in most rivers are small by Alaska standards but a fun change of pace on a light fly rod.  You can literally catch 7 different types of fish the same day in some of the rivers we fish.  The day will depend upon what you feel like chasing and seeing.

We even have a nice run of pink salmon that run right in front of the lodge and guests can fish right there in the morning or evening if they still have the energy.  We have had guests catch bright pink salmon fly fishing from one of our stand-up paddle boards right in front of the lodge when the tide is in!
